No, it's more the other way around. Kimba originated in 1950 as a manga by Osamu Tezuka that made into a TV series in 1965. The Lion King originated in 1994. However, there has been many similarities between the series and the movie that had audiences, especially from Japan, that Disney stole ideas from Tezuka's creation.
Not true, that's been debunked by YMS recently.
Not to mention, there are actually multiple Kimba movies and TV shows actually.

I know this is kinda long, but it's a very interesting, and well done documentary of the long running fan-allegations, (and even Tezuka productions doesn't agree with them, hence why they never sued) and does great comparisons between both Kimba and the Lion King.
I highly recommend watching it, before you continue spreading that "Lion King ripped off Kimba" false rumor that has plagued the internet for decades.

I never said that Lion King ripped off Kimba. I just said that there are many similarities between the two. The same can be said about two other movies I love - UPA's Gay Purr-ee and Disney's Aristocats. There similarities in those films as well.
